Chums,

The crews of Firefly and Seaforth can't wait for September so we're off to the Emerald Isle from 17th - 22nd June to mess about in boats and drink loads of Guinness.

We went the same time in June 2008 & 2009.... The weather was fantastic and the fishing was good but not as good as in September. The sea was also alive with launce in 2009 which would probably account for the lack of those in-shore predators last year.

Anyway - we're going back so if anyone fancies an extra ...

(The Conservation of Eel Fishing Bye Law C.S. 303,2009 is the legislation should anyone wish to look it up.)

The committee will be seeking advice on the matter, and an anouncement will be made on reception night at the festival, but it seems that silver eel will be off the list of species until 2012. ...

Are there any good wrecks around Rosslare that are worth making the effort to fish during this competition

I've got hold of a book about wrecks around Ireland, but it doesn't really give that much information about exact positions .... if there are some wrecks that are worth fishing, if possible I'd be interested in the actual name of the wreck so I could look into it in more depth.

goldsinny wrasse

corkwing wrasse

Recreational Sea Angling Article 47

The plan is to put sea angling on the same, discredited, quota system as used by commercial fishermen. It will mean that every private boat, charter boat that wants to drop a line over the side will need a license. All fish landed will need to be reported whether caught from boat or shore.

Please visit the Government web site through the link below and sign this very important email petition opposing the EU Article 47 proposals to control and regulate Sea Angling from boats.
